Honoring our 2020 Champions

Because of the ongoing restrictions on crowds and the fact that we could not find a venue to hold more than 50 people, it was decided to hold an informal gathering in the parking lot of NYIRP (Lancaster). We will get together on Saturday, October 24th starting at 2:00 pm. This will be rain or shine. As this is informal, there is no charge as there will be no sit down dinner. Depending on the weather, this may be a grab and go gathering. Because of ties in points, payouts will go to the top 8 in points in the Gasser class and the top 7 in points in the Mod class. Bring a chair or tailgate if you wish. Please RSVP to gasserracingseries@gmail.com. We wish we could have done the same as last year, but that is out of our hands. Hopefully next year we can get back to a normal GRS event. Please try to attend to honor our winners for the 2020 season.

NYIRP – Race of Champions

On October 10th, 2020, NYIRP is hosting their annual Race of Champions. This year the GRS has been invited to participate. It is open to Winners of “ANY” Gasser Racing Series race this past year. The overall winner will receive $750 and an IHRA “Ironman” Trophy. Member’s who are eligible are, Nick DiFeo, Billy Webb, Bill Curtis, and Brian Kresman from our Gassers. On the Mod side, those eligible are Bill Quay, Jerry Croston, Dave Stulak, Brian Rossman, and Roger Cavallaro. Please let everyone know and hope for one more day of great racing.

On a lighter note

After our GRS race yesterday, NYIRP held their Big Rig and Pickup Truck race. Bill and Arlene Quay attached their GRS flag to the back of their Motorhome and entered the Big rig race. After three rounds of time trials the big Motor home lumbered to 5 round wins and a second place finish. The temp dropped and they lost in the final on a double breakout. Photos are on the NYIRP racers forum. Fun was had by all.

Final Race

Finally a nice day to race. In the Gasser Class, it was Billy Webb in his 1949 German Ford out-running Dan Brockway in his Boss Nine powered 1964 Comet. This was Billy Webb’s second victory of the season. In the Mod Class, it was Brian Rossman in his Blue Cobra Pinto outlasting Jerry Croston in his 1971 Chevy Nova. At the end of the day, we had our Champions for this “crazy” 2020 season. In the Gasser Class, it is Nick DiFeo and his 1939 Ford, and in the Mod Class it is Bill Quay in his 1964 Ford Fairlane. Congrats to all our winners this season. As soon as we get something locked down as far an awards get-together, we will be contacting our members.
